An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty this week to having a handgun when he was stopped for suspicion of driving under the influence in Hamilton Township.
Thomas Jordan, now 34, was pulled over on the Black Horse Pike at about 1:42 a.m. Dec. 26, 2021, for various motor vehicle infractions, including not staying in his lane and delaying traffic, court records show.
During an investigation into driving under the influence, police a .40-caliber handgun with a round in the chamber, along with a 15-round and 10-round magazine that both were loaded.
Jordan at the time had prior convictions that made him a certain person not allowed to possess a handgun.
He pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun Monday, and faces a five-year sentence under the plea agreement with 3½ years of parole ineligibility.
Jordan remains free pending sentencing set for Sept. 19.
