Atlantic County reports one COVID death in 16 days

  • News

Atlantic County has gone more than two weeks with one death attributed to COVID-19.
The first death in two weeks was announced over the weekend, a 98-year-old woman from Hammonton who had pre-existing health conditions, officials said.
Monday is the 15 time in 16 days to report no new deaths.
There were 131 cases confirmed in the last week, with the youngest being two 3-year-old boys and a 2-year-old girl.
Pleasantville has topped the new confirmations in the past week, with 27 residents testing positive.
Hamilton Township had 22, Egg Harbor Township with 21 and Northfield had six residents test positive. Additional confirmations include five each in Absecon and Ventnor, four in Brigantine, and two each in Buena Borough, Buena Vista Township and Margate.
Linwood, Somers Point, Egg Harbor City, Estelle Manor, Longport and Corbin City each had one.
With these confirmations, there are now 3,805 Atlantic County residents who were confirmed to have the virus, with 2,321 cleared as recovered. There have been 242 deaths.

Atlantic County will continue to provide Covid-19 testing by appointment at its drive-thru facility each Tuesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. behind the county Public Works yard in Northfield at Route 9 and Dolphin Avenue.
Only an appointment and proof of residency are required. No prescription or symptoms are necessary.
Appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel with at least 24 hours' notice so others can fill those spots.

A list of additional testing locations in Atlantic County is available at: https://www.atlantic-county.org/covid/additional-testing-locations.asp
Health officials urge residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of Covid-19. This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common-touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.
