Atlantic County officials announced the deaths of nine elderly residents from COVID-19 a day after no deaths were reported.Eight lived in long-term care facilities. This brings the death toll to 121 in the county.
The deaths were a 72-year-old Buena Vista Township man; an 85-year-old Hammonton man; an 83-year-old Pleasantville man; an 82-year-old woman and 88-year-old man from Northfield, and four Galloway Township residents, a 73-year-old man, and three women ages 84, 88 and 91.
There were also 44 newly confirmed cases in 22 men ages 9 to 97 and 22 women ages 25 to 91.
There were 40 more residents cleared, bringing the the recovery total to 541 of the 1,860 positives.
The newly confirmed cases included nine in Atlantic City, six each in Egg Harbor and Galloway townships, five in Absecon and Pleasantville, three in Hamilton Township and Northfield, two in Hammonton and Ventnor, and one each in Buena Vista, Linwood and Port Republic.
Testing will continue Tuesday and Thursday for symptomatic county residents with a doctor’s prescription. Testing is conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. Appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org.
Residents should come prepared with their doctor’s script, proof of residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill, and their appointment confirmation. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel so others may have an opportunity to be tested.
In the event of inclement weather (heavy rain and/or high winds) on a scheduled test date, residents with appointments should check the county website (www.aclink.org) for updates regarding postponement and rescheduling.
