Linwood, MRHS sheltering in place lifted after no credible threat found

All Linwood schools and Mainland Regional High School briefly sheltered in place while police conducted an investigation Friday afternoon.

Linwood police were at the Belhaven Middle School conducting an investigation, according to a message sent around noon.

But within an hour, police said they had concluded there was no credible threat. The shelter in place was then lifted.

The information comes on a day that a viral TikTok challenge threatened shootings at schools throughout the nation.

The area has had a number of scares this week, but none has proven valid.

Police presence was increased at several local schools as a precaution. Many parents have said they decided to keep their children home as a result.
