Atlantic City teen arrested with guns and drugs

  • Crime Courts

An Atlantic City teen was arrested after a fight with his brother led police to his home where they allegedly found two guns.

Police were called to the first block of South Elberon Avenue just before 2 p.m. Monday, for a physical altercation between two brothers, ages 16 and 19, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

When Officers Albert Herbert, Matthew Schmidt and Cynthia Rongione arrived, they were told the 16-year old was recently seen in with a handgun that was believed to be in the home.

As a result, Detective Eric Evans of the Special Investigations Section got a search warrant.

Officers then found two handguns, a high-capacity magazine, hollow-point ammunition, more than five grams of cocaine and almost two pounds of marijuana.

The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor, possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute and possession within a school zone.

He was also charged with possession of a ghost gun, which is a gun that is put together from parts.

The juvenile was remanded to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
