Two patrol units had busy shifts this week.
Bravo 2 and Charlie 2 had 150 calls for service, including 10 resulting in arrests, from 4 p.m. Tuesday through 3 a.m. Wednesday, Capt. Kevin Fair said.
Three arrests involved guns, including the arrest of a 15-year-old city boy.
“This 11-hour period is a small snippet of the incredible work being done by the members of this department each and every day,” Chief James Sarkos said. “These officers effectively handled a variety of calls and the needs of the community. There is no one else I would rather have policing this city than these men and women. I am extremely proud of their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment.”
Officer Kleovoulos Zissimopoulos was doing a property check at the Circle K in the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue at 5:39 p.m., when he was told a vehicle fled after failing to pay for gasoline, Fair said.
Before fleeing, a rear passenger brandished a handgun, according to the report.
Zissimopoulos got a description and put it out to officers.
Officer John Bell was familiar with the vehicle and the man that was typically the driver, Fair said.
He found the vehicle with five people inside in the 1500 block of Sewell Avenue. Three were charged.
Marahd Townsend, 18, of Atlantic City, was driving. Yamaad Gilliam-Bey, 19, of Atlantic City, and a 15-year-old were charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a high-capacity magazine and conspiracy.
Townsend and Gilliam-Bey were additionally charged with employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime. They were sent to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The teen was taken to juvenile detention.
Officer Jose Zamorano and K-9 Officer Melvin Murray III responded to the 100 block of N. North Carolina Avenue at 6:13 p.m. for a woman crying, Fair said.
The officers located a man and woman who had previously been involved in a dating relationship and were in a verbal altercation, according to the report.
Maria Suriel, was arrested after officers observed injuries to the man, Fair said.
Suriel, 42, of the city, was charged with simple assault and released on a summons.
While handling that call, the officers encountered Veronica Blount, who had an active warrant related to an April 25 burglary and assault , Fair said.
During that incident, Blount allegedly forced her way into her neighbor’s residence and assaulted her.
Blount, 37, of Atlantic City, is charged with burglary, simple assault and harassment. She was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Michael Williams was seen starting to engage in a drug deal in the first block of South Florida Avenue at 6:45 p.m., by Special Investigations Section, Fair said.
Williams, 31, of Atlantic City, sped off on his electric bike when he saw the detectives, according to the report.
The detectives arrested Williams who was found in possession of 50 individual bags of heroin, a small amount of methamphetamine and prescription pills, Fair said. Williams also had an active warrant.
He is charged with three counts each of possession, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute within a school zone.
He also is charged with drug paraphernalia, obstruction and resisting arrest.
Williams was sent to the Atlantic County jail.

Officer Wen You responded to the 100 block of Vermont Terrace for a report of an attempted theft at 7:11 p.m.
The homeowner saw Garver Vila try to steal a ladder and carry it away while riding a bike, according to the report.
After attempting to ride away, Vila dropped the ladder.
He was located and arrested by Officer Jonathan Revolus.
Vila, 43, of Atlantic City, was charged with theft and released on a summons.
A ShotSpotter alert at 11:07 p.m. brought patrol officers to the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue, where they found a 15-year-old boy wounded, Fair said.
Officer Andrew Xiques treated the victim’s injuries before the teen was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for a non-life-threatening injury.
Officers were able to get a description of the suspect vehicle.
Sgt. John Waddell found the vehicle within 20 minutes, unoccupied in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue, Fair said.
It was reported stolen from Bellmawr, Monmouth County. Evidence of gunfire was located inside the vehicle.
The investigation is being led by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit.
Officers Ivaylo Penchev and Warren Young responded to the 400 block of Madison Avenue for a report of a man wandering in the rear of a residence at 11:50 p.m.
Eric Powell was arrested and found to have several warrants for his arrest.
Powell, 28, of Norristown, Morris County, was jailed on a contempt of court warrant
An 11-year-old boy was reported missing at 12:42 a.m. by his grandmother, Fair said.
Officers searched the area but were unsuccessful in locating him.
He was last seen by a family member in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue but the family member did not stop him, according to the report. The child was later found at a family member’s residence.

Patrol officers were called to Caesars Atlantic City in reference to a man trespassing, Fair said.
Eugene Heyward 42, of Conshohocken, Pa., refused the officers' orders to leave and tried to walk farther into the property, Fair said.
He was irate and yelling at officers, according to the report.
Heyward became combative, Fair said. Heyward bit Officer Heriberto Barrios-Gomez on the leg as he fought being arrested.
He was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.
Heyward was released on a summons.
An Absecon woman was arrested after Officer Rudolph Sime came across a vehicle parked in the roadway in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at 2:49 a.m.
The vehicle was unoccupied, Fair said.
Shortly after, Erica Butler came outside and was arrested after being found to have several active warrants.
Butler, 39, was released on her own recognizance.
