Mom looking for answers after 13-year-old son dies of overdose

  • News
Jamie Lund has a lot of questions. The Rio Grande woman lost her 13-year-old son in June. A medical examiner's report now tells her it was drugs. Vincent Weiner died June 4 in Middle Township as "a direct result of a deadly mixture of heroin mixed with fentanyl," Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor wrote in a news release. Lund told BreakingAC she didn't believe her son ever used drugs before. "Maybe he had used before," she said. "There's so many questions I don't have answers to." Like who provided the drugs that led to her son's death. Since his death, she learned of bullying at school. She said Vincent had told her of problems a couple of years ago, but she had addressed them and heard nothing more. One classmate wrote of the problems Vincent faced. "He didn't deserve all of the crap he got at school," wrote the boy who said he played Xbox with Vincent a couple of times. "I wish he could see how many people care about him." The young boy had a special quality that drew people to him, according to posts left by mourners. "My only hope, through all of this, is that each and every one of you is able to honor Vincent Weiner's memory by carrying forward his zest for life and his love for everyone," his mother wrote in a June 9 post before leaving to see her son's body for the first time. "My baby is gone from this world, but he is so incredibly loved, he will NEVER be forgotten!" Taylor urges families to educate their children and loved ones on the dangers of illegal drugs and to continue to report any information regarding illegal drug activity and/or any criminal activity. If you're wanting to check if your child is taking any illegal substances, look into purchasing an instant drug test
so you're able to address the problem straight away. Information can be reported anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriff's Tip Line here or through the Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 609-465-2800 or 877-465-2801 or call the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1135.
