An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty in the killing of his longtime boyfriend Tuesday.
Faheem Harris, 36, admitted to stabbing 38-year-old Daimyen S. Mortimore on March 23, 2017, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
"I loved this man," Harris told a judge during his first appearance days after the killing.
Harris had told police the two had been drinking and got into a fight when he “poked” Mortimore with a steak knife from the kitchen.
Mortimore then took a shower and went to bed. Mortimore later died of a stab wound to the chest.
“I didn’t do what I should have done, (which) was called 911,” Harris said at the court appearance in 2017. “When he said he was alright, I should have done it.”
He faces 12 years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 22. He would have to serve 85 percent of any sentence under the No Early Release Act.
Harris remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
