Group gave hundreds the gift of Thanksgiving dinner

  • Community
More than 400 Atlantic County families were able to have Thanksgiving dinner thanks to a group of residents. "I had the vision to feed the homeless and distribute hams and turkeys to the community," said James Pressley of Elder JP Ministries. The giveaway last Saturday of more than 200 turkeys and 200 hams was made with help from Kappa Alpha Psi's Atlantic City Chapter, GreenLife Energy Solutions, the Atlantic County Sheriff's Foundation and others. Pressley said he was thankful for those who helped make his vision come true, including the Atlantic City Junior Chamber, Diego Law Offices and a host of volunteers. Newly appointed Atlantic City Councilwoman LaToya Dunston was among those on hand, along with Erica Marshall, who Pressley said rescued him with a last-minute catering order. Before that, more than 300 homeless were served at the Turning Point Day Center in Atlantic City. Both events also had music courtesy of DJs Kyshawn Wyman and Lamar Bradley.
