Pleasantville man arrested in Atlantic City shooting

  • News

A Pleasantville man has been arrested in a December shooting that wounded a man in Atlantic City. Anthony Hare-Jones was wanted in the Dec. 14 shooting that grazed a 24-year-old city resident at Michigan and Caspian avenues, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
On Wednesday, Detective Christopher Smith saw Hare-Jones get into a vehicle at Chelsea and Pacific avenues and stopped the car, according to the report.
After police responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 11 a.m. Dec. 14, they found the victim wounded and got a description of the vehicle, Fair said.
Officer Kevin Perez had just finished his shift and was driving on the Atlantic City Expressway when he saw a vehicle matching that description speed past him, Fair said.
Perez got the license plate number, which helped in the Violent Crimes Unit's investigation of the shooting, according to the report.
Hare-Jones, 24, is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Hare-Jones was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit at 609-347-5766. Information can be text to tip411 (847411). Begin the text with ACPD. All texts are anonymous.

Note: The Atlantic County Justice Facility no longer provides mugshots to the media, citing the Atlantic County prosecutor’s order. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office says it’s part of the Attorney General’s Guidelines. There is no such guideline, according to the Attorney General’s Office, but they have told these offices for years that they should not release any photos that appear to be mugshots.
