Ventnor man on probation in gun case arrested for threatening child's mother with gun in Pleasantville

  • News

A Ventnor man on probation for handgun possession was arrested for allegedly threatening the mother of his child with a handgun in Pleasantville.
Ventnor police arrested Nazeer Sapp outside a Ventnor residence after he fled Pleasantville just after midnight Thursday morning, Ventnor Police Capt. Joe Fussner said.
Pleasantville police first got the call that there was a custody dispute in the area of Falcon Drive, Pleasantville Police Lt. Stacey Schlachter said.
The 20-year-old mom then told Officer Xzavier Evans that Sapp threatened to kill her with a handgun and was possibly headed to Ventnor in his silver Ford Escape, according to the reports.
Police found the vehicle parked in the 100 block of North Harvard Avenue, and Sapp outside the residence, Fussner said.
Sapp, 27, was in possession of a Glock 27 handgun along with two fully loaded magazines, according to the charges.
He already is on probation in a 2017 case, where he was stopped on a bike and found to have a loaded gun in his waistband.
Sapp pleaded guilty in December 2017, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and five years' probation, records show.
He is now charged with possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapon, possession of large capacity magazines and certain persons prohibited from possessing weapons out of Ventnor.
He was then turned over to Pleasantville, where he was charged with weapons offenses, reckless endangerment of a child, terroristic threats and simple assault.
He is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing.

The Atlantic County Justice Facility no longer provides mugshots to the media, citing the Atlantic County prosecutor's order. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says it's part of the Attorney General's Guidelines. There is no such guideline, according to the Attorney General's Office, but they have recommended that these offices not release any photos that appear to be mugshots.
