Mays Landing man had explosive devices, federal charges claim

A Mays Landing man is accused of possessing destructive devices containing explosive powder.

Atlantic County, New Jersey, man was charged today with possessing destructive devices, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Robert J. Moser, 31, faces federal charges after police responding to a drug overdose at his home found numerous suspicious devices covered in tape with exposed fuses, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.

Officers found Moser unconscious March 17, when officers noticed the devices, according to the information released.

Both contained explosive powder. One had metal ball bearings and metal eye hooks, and a second had metal dart tips.

Moser was arrested Tuesday, and is due to have his first appearance in Camden.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of as much as $250,000.

Sellinger credited special agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Newark Field Division, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Bryan Miller; officers of the Township of Hamilton Police Department, under the direction of Chief Gregory K. Ciambrone; members of the Atlantic City Police Department Bomb Squad, under the direction of Chief James A. Sarkos; and personnel from the Atlantic City Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Prosecutor William Reynolds, with the investigation leading to today’s arrest.
