Ventnor man arrested in fatal knife attack

A Ventnor man was arrested Sunday in a stabbing that killed an Atlantic City woman and wounded a man.
Jose Lopez, 51, is charged with murder and other offenses in the vicious knife attack at a North Harrisburg Avenue home before 8 p.m. Saturday.
The victims’ names are still being withheld pending family notifications of the arrest.
The 54-year-old woman suffered a severe wound and died at the scene. A 52-year-old Pennsylvania man was badly injured and remain hospitalized.
A Galloway Township police officer was on patrol Sunday, when he saw Lopez driving a vehicle registered to the male victim, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said.
The unnamed officer radioed for backup, then stopped the vehicle and arrested Lopez without incident, Ruberton said.
Lopez is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The prosecutor is not commenting at this time on any possible relationship between Lopez and one or both of the victims.
Egg Harbor City and Mullica Township police also assisted in the investigation.

    I along with my neighbor’s were concerned that we had a killer roaming the streets of our neighborhood.
    I check your Facebook post numerous times a day and I find them too be invaluable.
    I would like to thank the Atlantic City police officers who made a timely arrest in this brutal killing.
    Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the woman who was killed in this senseless act of violence.
