Two wounded in separate Atlantic City shootings overnight

Police are investigating two separate shootings that each wounded men hours apart in Atlantic City overnight Saturday.
The first shooting happened just before 10:30 p.m. in the area of Arctic and New Jersey avenues, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
ShotSpotter, the city’s audio gunshot-detection system, registered eight rounds.
People gathered at a cookout nearby rushed children inside a home, a witness tells BreakingAC.
Orion Austin, 22, of the city, was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus for treatment.
While investigating that shooting, Detective Schuyler Davis got information that a man had a gun.
He and Sgt. Charles Stuart found Elijah Harrison with a loaded gun in his waistband. He is not believed to have shot Austin, Fair said.
He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point bullets. Austin was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, awaiting a first appearance.
At 1:17 a.m., police responded to a second shooting in the 1800 block of Hummock Avenue.
Officers found Tracy Harris, 46, also a city resident, with a gunshot wound.
He also was taken to AtlantiCare for treatment.
The city’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating both incidents.
