Atlantic City man arrested in two burglary tries within minutes

  • News
An Atlantic City man was arrested after he was interrupted attempting to burglarize separate homes within minutes, police said. At 1:16 p.m. Wednesday, were called to the 100 block of Adriatic Avenue by a homeowner who interrupted a man who had entered the garage, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. The man ran away when confronted. Police got a description of the suspect, who was seen 10 minutes later trying to burglarize a residence in the 100 blocks of North New Hampshire Avenue, according to the report. A neighbor observed the man trying to stand on a trashcan and climb in a window that he had broken, Fair said. The man ran off when confronted by the neighbor. Officers Susan Johnson and Dembe Baako, who was responding to the second burglary, saw Gilbert Bonilla riding his bicycle at Madison and Massachusetts avenues. Bonilla, 33, matched the description of the suspect in both incidents. Officers arrested Bonilla, who was in possession of tools commonly used to commit a burglary, Fair said. He was charged with burglary, attempted burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. Bonilla was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. If you too have been burglarized, one of the best measures to take immediately afterward is to contact a locksmith to get your locks changed and potentially have more locks added, we hope that the people who have just been burglarized have also taken this precautionary step to secure their home back up. If you don't know how to find a local locksmith in your area, then googling phrases such as, '
locksmith Melbourne', or somewhere local to you, this will help narrow down your search and get you the help you need.
