A standoff in Vineland that ended with a man fatally shot Saturday is under investigation by the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
He was identified Sunday as Rashaun Washington, 37, of Bridgeton.
Police were called to a residence on West Wood Street at 11:22 a.m. for the report of a man acting suspiciously on a front porch on the street between Boulevard and Fourth streets, Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
An encounter between the officers and man lasted several minutes, ending with the man fatally shot.
"I hope they don't shoot his ass," a woman who captured the standoff on Facebook Live said just moments before the man was shot.
The video showed him stepping toward a police vehicle and then stepping backward several times. Then, the man runs past the vehicle and shots are heard.
"They killed him!" the woman yells.
The man is later seen on a stretcher.
The man has not yet been positively identified, Webb-McRae said.
Another video posted by Tina Wainwright shows a view prior to the shooting.
