Two Atlantic City brothers already serving federal life sentences were convicted Wednesday in the 2013 killing of a man.
Tyquinn James was shot outside a store in Atlantic City by a man on a bike. The killing was caught on surveillance video.
The shooter was Malik Derry at the order of his older brother Mykal Derry, the state charged.
It took jurors about five hours to agree.
“The greater Atlantic City region is far safer knowing that the Derry brothers will be incarcerated for life, whether in state or federal prison," Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. "I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies responsible for assisting in bringing them to justice."
After jurors were excused, Mykal Derry told the judge the trial was unfair, saying it was the same as his federal trial.
The men already are serving life sentences for their part in the Dirty Blok drug-trafficking gang that was centered in Atlantic City's Stanley Holmes Village.
Sentencing is set for Sept. 25.
