Atlantic County, AtlantiCare offer free drive-thru COVID testing

  • Covid 19

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing is coming to Atlantic County next week.

The county is collaborating with AtlantiCare to offer PCR, or polymerase chain reaction, testing for both symptomatic and asymptomatic adults and children.

The testing begins Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Beginning Tuesday, the opening time will be 9 a.m.

Appointments are required. Identification must be provided at the scheduled testing time.

It’s expected about 300 people will be able to be tested each day.

“We continue to urge members of our community to be vaccinated and get the booster, to follow all COVID-19 precautions, and to seek care in the most appropriate setting,” said AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Chief Operating Officer Larisa Goganzer, MSN, RN. “it is important that we embrace these steps to protect each other during this time of exceedingly high community spread.”

Testing is at the Atlantic County Public Works Yard at Dolphin and Harvey avenues in Northfield.

There will be no testing Jan. 17, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.

“We are grateful for the support of AtlantiCare in helping us provide this drive-thru testing facility that will serve to better meet the current demand for testing and alleviate some of the stress on other locations,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said. “I encourage our residents to take advantage of this free public service to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect themselves, their families and our community.”

Individuals seeking a testing appointment should register online by visiting www.atlanticare.org/drivethrutest or scanning the QR code:

Those who receive testing can access their results approximately 48 to 72 hours after testing by visiting https://patient.labcorp.com/landing or scanning the following QR code:

Scheduling capacity and test result time are subject to change.

The county previously partnered with AtlantiCare for a drive-thru test facility before vaccines became available.

Once vaccines were offered, the demand for testing decreased sharply. But now that cases are on the rise and include breakthrough cases among those who have been vaccinated, the demand for testing has increased.
