AG detective's N. Wildwood arrest getting independent review

  • Crime-Courts

The arrest of a sergeant in the Attorney General's Office will now be independently reviewed, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Danielle Oliveira, 32, was arrested for defiant trespass last month after she allegedly continued trying to get into Keenan's Irish Pub after being kicked out.

BreakingAC was first to report the arrest Saturday, including video from police body-worn cameras.

At the time, an Attorney General's Office spokesman said that it was the subject of an ongoing review.

But on Wednesday, the spokesman emailed BreakingAC to say that "in an abundance of caution and to avoid the appearance of a potential conflict, we have asked that the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office conduct an independent review of the incident."

During the arrest, Oliveira claimed to work for the State Police, saying she was a lieutenant.

She is actually sergeant in the Attorney General's Office of Public Integrity and Accountability.

Lt. Cortney Lawrence, who was with Oliveira, told North Wildwood Police Lt. Adam McGraw that Oliveira was poised for a promotion to lieutenant. She also claimed Oliveira had stepped out of the bar to take a phone call about a police involved shooting in the northern part of the state, which Oliveira covers.

BreakingAC has not been able to find any record of such an incident that night. There is also the question of whether someone determined to be intoxicated would be able to respond to such a call.

Oliveira was not allowed to leave the police station until Lawrence signed her out and took responsibility for her.
