The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the killing of a Bayside State prisoner.
Martin Sanchez, 41, was found unresponsive and injured inside his cell at about 7:11 p.m. Nov. 21, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said Wednesday.
He appeared to have suffered from blunt-force trauma, according to the report.
Sanchez was later pronounced dead.
Detective Christopher Johnson is investigating.
Sanchez was serving a 514-day sentence for theft out of Essex County, state Department of Corrections records show. He had been jailed since July 28, 2021.
