Detectives seize $119K, drugs from alleged Somers Point cannabis-manufacturing facility

  • News

A Somers Point man is jailed for allegedly running a non-licensed cannabis-manufacturing facility out of his home.

John Garman, 38, was arrested last week, after a joint investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, & Narcotics Unit, Somers Point police and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, or HIDTA, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced.

Law enforcement seized about 65 pounds of marijuana, 32 pounds of THC gummy candy, 1½ pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms, 10 pounds of THC cartridges and half-pound of additional THC-infused candy, according to the report.

About $119,526 in cash was also seized.

Three children live in the home, including a 14-year-old who was home at the time of the arrest and had product in his room, BreakingAC confirmed.

The 12- and 7-year-olds were at school at the time.

Garman faces first-degree counts of marijuana and hashish distributions and operating a controlled dangerous substance-manufacturing facility, along with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, money laundering and fortifying a CDS-manufacturing facility.

He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
