An Egg Harbor Township man allegedly assaulted a police sergeant responding to a neighborhood dispute Tuesday night.
Rene DeJesus, 59, allegedly punched Sgt. Michael Keeping, then came at him again with a rock and his pit bull.
While the dog seemed friendly, according to the report, DeJesus was not.
The incident started when Keeping responded to a dispute between neighbors at the Tilton Terrace Mobile Park just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Mark Mensch said.
When the sergeant arrived, DeJesus was shouting and acting disorderly in the middle of the street, according to the report.
DeJesus immediately threatened Keeping, then punched him, Mensch said.
DeJesus then allegedly retrieved an ornamental rock and metal bird feeder to use as weapons against the sergeant.
He then ran back into his residence where he got his pit pull, and both ran toward Keeping, Mensch said.
DeJesus once again tried assaulting Keeping, who arrested DeJesus with help from Officers Francisco Nastasi and Christian Peterson.
DeJesus is charged disorderly conduct, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and aggravated assault. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
