N.Y. man charged after dog, cat left for hours in car in A.C. parking garage

  • News

A Brooklyn man is charged with animal cruelty after his dog and cat were left in his car in an Atlantic City parking garage.

Police were called to the Bally's Atlantic City parking garage just before 6 p.m. Thursday after someone saw a dog and cat in the vehicle with the windows rolled up for an extended period of time, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Thomas Cabot, 53, had left the animals inside the car that morning without adequate water, ventilation or cooling, according to the report.

Both animals survived and were seized pending the outcome of the case.

It is one of at least three similar cases in Atlantic County within the past couple of days.

The Prosecutor’s Office reminds the public that any pets that can no longer be properly cared for, or are no longer wanted, can be surrendered to the Atlantic County Animal Shelter in Pleasantville or the Humane Society in Atlantic City.
