An alleged drug dealer from Mays Landing is in jail for the overdose death of a Cape May County man earlier this month.
Wayne Mumford, 35, was arrested Oct. 20, four days after Brian Creamer Jr. was found unresponsive in an Upper Township McDonald's parking lot.
State Police from the Woodbine section were called to the lot Oct. 16, for a man who was unresponsive with no pulse, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.
Creamer and his girlfriend went to the Wawa in Mays Landing near the Walmart the night before so he could buy methamphetamine from Mumford, the woman told police, saying the deal was set up through Facebook messenger.
The woman described Creamer going into Mumford's black Cadillac, and returning with a wax fold of heroin, saying that Mumford gave him that because he did not have meth.
Creamer went in the back of the van with the unopened fold, and when he came back with it opened, the woman told police that she threw it on the ground of the parking lot.
She said the two went into the McDonald's to use the bathroom, then returned to the van where Creamer fell asleep in the driver's seat. He then slumped over to where his head was on the woman's lap and he "got heavy," she said.
After about 30 minutes, she tried to get him out of the van through the passenger side, but was not able to, according to the affidavit. She then tried to give him CPR and called 911.
Rescue workers used Narcan and CPR to regain a slight pulse, and Creamer was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center, the affidavit state. He was later flown to Cooper Health Systems, where he was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m. Oct. 17.
Investigators at the scene found the fold the woman had discarded, which was stamped with "Hell Cat," the affidavit states.
Days later, a search of Mumford's vehicle would lead to two empty wax folds stamped the same way, along 45 folds of heroin stamped "Apple Pay," according to an affidavit for five other drug charges against Mumford. Four grams of methamphetamine were also found.
It was not the first time Creamer overdosed from drugs allegedly provided by Mumford, according to the affidavit.
Creamer's brother said that there was an overdose earlier in the year at their father's home. Creamer allegedly told his brother that Mumford sold him that heroin.
A confidential source made two drug purchases from Mumford the week of Oct. 16, as part of the investigation into Creamer's death.
Mumford later was Mirandized and told state troopers in an interview that he arranged to meet with Creamer twice for drug transactions, the affidavit states.
Mumford allegedly told police that during their first interaction, he gave Creamer a small amount of meth without being paid because Creamer did not have money.
Mumford is now in the Cape May County jail.
Creamer leaves behind a daughter. A GoFundMe was set up to help with funeral expenses and benefit the little girl.
