A Woodbine man is charged in one of two fatal New Year's Day stabbings in Atlantic City.
Vincent Oglesby, 30, is accused of stabbing a man in the neck at about 6:15 a.m. in the area of the first block of South California Avenue.
Richard Vincent O'Brien III, 50, later died of his injuries.
It was the first of two fatal stabbings in the city that morning.
Oglesby appeared briefly in court via video Wednesday, when he was told he was being held pending a detention hearing currently set for Tuesday.
"Did they go over the charges with you?" Judge Andrew Cafiero asked him.
"No," Oglesby replied. "But I know I have first-degree murder."
Oglesby had two arrests as a fugitive from justice from 2022 to 2023, court records show. There were no details on those charges.
He will remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a decision on detention.
