Pleasantville man wounded in Atlantic City shooting

  • News

A Pleasantville man with several pending gun cases was shot in Atlantic City on Sunday, then drove himself to the hospital.
Umar Salahuddin, 24, would not say where he was shot in the city after he arrived at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus at about 6:30 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Violent Crimes Unit detectives responded to the hospital.
About 20 minutes earlier, the ShotSpotter audio gunshot-detection system recorded shots fired in the 800 block of North Maryland Avenue, Fair said.
Evidence of gunfire was found, and both incidents are being investigated.
Salahuddin turned himself in to police in June 2015 on charges related to the May 2015 shooting of a man. In December 2014, his brother-in-law, rapper Beanie Sigel, was shot at his Pleasantville home.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 609-347-5788 or anonymously text tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.
