Atlantic City man imprisoned in 2009 shooting charged with murder after victim dies

  • News

An Atlantic City man already serving time for a 2009 shooting is now charged with murder four years after the victim died.

Malik Green, known as Naya, was shot Nov. 22, 2009, inside Hudson's Bar and Grill at 2 S. New York Ave. He was struck in the neck, and paralyzed in the shooting.

Germaine Boothe was arrested Dec. 22, 2009, and in March 2010, was indicted on 11 counts, including attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and weapons offenses.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2012, as part of a plea deal. He is required to serve 85 percent under the No Early Release Act.

Green died Jan. 22, 2014, in Philadelphia.

Additional investigation determined that Green died as a result of his injury, and on Thursday, Boothe was served the charge of murder in Bayside State Prison, where he is currently serving his sentence. He now also has an additional $500,000 bail, and his parole date has been removed from the Department of Corrections website. He had less than three years left on his sentence.

Boothe is scheduled to be in court Tuesday afternoon to formally hear the charges against him.

According to witnesses at the scene, Boothe opened the door to the bar at 7:19 a.m., pointed a sawed-off shotgun and fired two shots before running away. One of the shots hit the wall, and the other struck Green.

Police found a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun nearby between a dumpster and a wall, according to the report.
