A Brick man was arrested for allegedly downloading and sharing photos and movies of prepubescent children engaged in sex acts.
Steven Stone, 27, tried to destroy the evidence as detectives entered his Gloucester Drive apartment, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said. He allegedly tore out the hard drive and bent it in half. Forensic examiners were still able to get evidence from the computer.
Stone is charged with one count of second-degree distribution of child pornography, and a third-degree count of possession.
Stone is being held in the Ocean County jail on $100,000 full bail.
The New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children assisted in the investigation.
