A Mays Landing man was arrested after he allegedly struck a pedestrian and then left the scene.
Patrick Pearcy, 25, of Vineland, was struck at the entrance to Buena Regional High School at 7:42 p.m., State Trooper Alejandro Goez said.
Police arrived to find Pearcy injured but no vehicle.
Pearcy told police he knew the driver, and claimed it was intentional, according to the report.
Desmond Fummey, 21, Mays Landing, was later located and has been charged with aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident causing severe bodily injury, tampering with evidence and endangering the welfare of an injured person, Goez said. He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $35,000 bail.
Details were not available on Fummey's arrest, nor did the report indicate what evidence he allegedly tampered with.
Pearcy was taken via helicopter to Cooper University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
