Two charged in Atlantic City shooting that wounded two

  • News
Two Atlantic City men are charged in a shooting that wounded a couple Sunday night in the city's Buzby Village. Rasheed Howard, 21, was arrested Tuesday after police released a photo saying he was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and weapons offenses. Orion Austin, also 21, is still being sought on the same charges. Keisha Wakefield, 19, was found wounded in the 4300 block of North Drive at about 9 p.m., after police were called to the scene. The Egg Harbor Township woman was hospitalized with a serious injury. She was not the intended target, police said. Wakefield was one of several people outside during the shooting, but is not believed to be the intended target, said Sgt. Joe Iacovone, of the Violent Crimes Unit. Also injured in the shooting was Eric Earp, 20, who walked into the emergency room with a gunshot wound after a friend drove him from the scene. Iacovone credited information from the public and good police work in tracking the crime to Howard and Austin. "The information was constantly coming in," Iacovone said. "(Officers) were working around the clock. It's a testament to their dedication and what can be accomplished when you have good police work combined with community cooperation." Anyone with information is about the men's whereabouts is asked to call 609-347-5788 or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234. Information may also be anonymously texted to tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.
