Northfield man arrested in home invasion

  • News

A Northfield man is charged in a home invasion that included attacking a mother asleep with her child.
Two men went into the home in the 200 block of Jackson Avenue in Northfield at about 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.
A woman said that a man, later identified as 29-year-old Kevin White Jr., came into her bedroom where she was sleeping with her child.
White laid on top of her and cover her mouth with his hand, threatening her to keep quiet, according to the report.
He then tried dragging her toward another bedroom, but while she was being dragged, the woman fought back and broke free, police said.
She suffered cuts and bruises to her face, and was treated at the scene by emergency medical responders.
A second man was in the hallway when a second victim heard the first woman's screams and came out of her room, police said.
There was a struggle, according to the report. But the second victim was able to get back into her bedroom and lock the door.
The men then fled.
A search involved Egg Harbor Township K-9 officers did not turn up anyone.
An investigation by Detectives DiMarco and Bentz led to White's arrest.
He is charged with criminal restraint, burglary, assault, terroristic threats and conspiracy.
White was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 full cash bail.
Investigators are attempting to identify the second suspect.
