  • Crime-Courts

A young Atlantic City father was killed and his brother wounded in a shooting outside Hamilton Mall early Friday morning.

Black Friday shoppers reported hearing gunshots just after 1 a.m.

Police responded and found Demond Cottman, 21, shot multiple times near a silver SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:23 a.m., acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said.

The man's brother was shot in the leg.

Shadi Cottman, 26, of Clayton, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Friends and family say Demond Cottman helped coach area youth with his father, Demond Tally, and served in the Air Force.

He recently got married and had a baby boy.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7666.
