An Atlantic City teen was arrested Saturday after he was found with a handgun, police said.
Police were called to the 1600 block of Atlantic Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. for the report of an armed robbery, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
While Officers Jonathan Walsh and George Mancuso were looking for the suspect, they saw a teen walking quickly in the 1600 block of Adriatic Avenue.
When he saw the marked patrol car, the 16-year-old grabbed his front waist plan, which is a common place for concealing handguns, Fair said. They officers stopped the male, and found a loaded handgun in his waistband, according to the report.
He was arrested without incident.
The teen is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
