Millville man nearing end of 15-year prison term escapes halfway house

  • News

A Millville man less than six months from maxing out of a 15-year prison sentence is being sought after failing to report back to a halfway house this weekend.
Richard Tubens, 36, was convicted in 2002, of breaking into a home, stealing the gun of the resident’s deceased husband and then using it in the robbery of a pizzeria the next day.
He was on work release Saturday, when he failed to return to Kintock in Bridgeton.
Tubens made the necessary check-in call from his place of work in Bridgeton at about 12:30 a.m., and was due back by 1:30 a.m., state Department of Corrections spokesman Matt Schuman said Sunday. But Tubens never returned.

UPDATE:

Tubens was back in custody Oct. 25, 2016, records show.
He was released April 21, 2017, after maxing out of his term.
