An Atlantic City teen was arrested the day after he allegedly shot a man in the city, police said.
The ShotSpotter audio gunshot-detection system alerted police just after 10 p.m. Monday that shots were fired in the area of New Jersey and Baltic avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
A victim wasn't found at the scene, but a short time later, Shakeem Roberts walked into AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The 20-year-old city man's injury was not considered life-threatening.
Violent Crimes Unit detectives investigated, leading to a warrant for a 15-year-old's arrest and two search warrants for undisclosed residences in the city, Fair said.
The teen, whose name is not being released due to his age, was arrested, and a shotgun was found in one of the residences, according to the report.
The teen is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence. He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
