A 16-year-old Galloway Township teen already on probation for having a gun on school property was arrested Wednesday on gun and drug charges.
Galloway police received a tip Thursday that a juvenile resident had the parts to assemble a firearm, police said.
After an investigation, they found that the teen — whose name is not being released due to his age — had all the parts and tools needed to assemble a fully functional semiautomatic AR-15 rifle, police said.
No ammunition for the rifle was found, but police did seize hollow-point ammunition for a .40-caliber firearm. They did not find a gun that could fire that ammunition.
Cocaine was also found.
The teen was taken to the Atlantic Youth Detention Center on charges of possession of an assault firearm, tampering with physical evidence, credit card theft, wrongful impersonation and possession of cocaine.
