Two Atlantic City men were arrested after police found a pound of marijuana during a car stop Friday.
Michael Williams Jr., 30, was stopped for several driving violations at about 6:50 p.m. on the Atlantic City Connector, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
As Officers Christopher Dodson and Shayne Dugan approached the car, they smelled raw, unburned marijuana and air freshener, which is often used to mask the smell of drugs, Fair said.
Williams and his passenger, Lequan Jones — a city employee — were removed from the vehicle and it was searched. Inside, the officers found a sealed bag with 491 grams of marijuana, according to the report.
Williams and Jones were placed in custody and searched. Williams had additional marijuana on him, Fair said.
Jones had nothing on him, according to the report.
The Atlantic City man works with Ace Town Entertainment, a positive movement for kids in the city. The group has done several trips, including to colleges.
Jones declined to comment on the arrest.
Both men were issued summonses on drug charges, including possession within 500 feet of a public zone. Williams was additionally given six motor vehicle summonses.
