Two women died in a crash that closed a Hamilton Township road for more than three hours Friday, police said.
Allison Salerno, 35, of Vineland, was traveling west on Bear's Head Road at about 3:45 p.m., when she crossed the center lane for unknown reasons and side-swiped a 1998 BMW M3 traveling east, according to the preliminary investigation.
Salerno continued east in her 2007 Toyota Corolla, into the eastbound lane and struck a 2011 Kia Sorrento driven by Providence Colon.
Salerno was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Colon, 48, of Pleasantville, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Atlantic City Campus, where she later died as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the BMW, Barry Lubin, 51, of Vineland, was not injured.
Salerno was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Colon was not.
Airbags deployed in both vehicles, police said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call police at 609-625-2700.
