Man charged with robbing Atlantic City convenience store at knifepoint

An Atlantic City man was arrested Sunday, after he allegedly robbed a convenience store at knifepoint. Police were called to the Food 4 Less on the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue just after 10 p.m. for the report of a robbery. A man entered the store with a knife and robbed the clerk of several hundred dollars from the cash register, Officer George Mancuso was told. Mancuso gave other officers a description of the suspect, and Officer Robert Reynolds found the man riding his bike at South Carolina and Adriatic avenues, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Sam Jones, 52, was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal restraint, hindering apprehension, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones — who is also known as Rameek Williamson — was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
