A man wanted for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her with a gun was arrested by police Wednesday, after a brief chase.
Tony Griffin, 44, was spotted by Officers Jeffrey Hannon and Valmir Loga at 10:14 a.m. Wednesday, walking at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Adriatic Avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Griffin was wanted for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Sunday, Fair said. Griffin is accused of getting a shotgun from the bedroom during the incident, and threatening to shoot the unnamed victim.
He fled before officers arrived.
Fair said Griffin ran again Wednesday, when the officers told him to stop.
Hannon and Loga chased Griffin, who was arrested near the Police Athletic League along New York Avenue with assistance from Officers Chris Dodson and Alberto Valles.
He is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, simple assault, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.
He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
