One dead after two pedestrians struck in Lower Township

One pedestrian is dead and another critically after they were struck by a car in Lower Township on Saturday evening. The two pedestrians were struck as they tried to cross County Road 603 at about 5:20 p.m., police said. The 2012 Nissa Murano heading west had the right of way, according to video surveillance and witnesses, police said. The traffic light was green. The pedestrians — whose identities have not yet been released — were taken to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. One of the pedestrians, a man, died of his injuries. The second remains in critical condition. There are no criminal charges pending at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
