Two men in custody after leading Pleasantville police on chase

  • News
Two men are in police custody after leading officers on a chase Tuesday. Neighbors “were key in being able to take these individuals into custody,” Capt. Matt Hartman said. Pleasantville police tried to stop a vehicle, when one of the men bailed out in the area of Decatur and Main Street, Hartman said. The unidentified man ran and was captured in the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts at Main and the Black Horse Pike. The vehicle continued and was located on Florence Avenue in the West Atlantic City section of Egg Harbor Township, according to the report. Neighbors told police that the driver fled on foot, Hartman said. Eventually he ended up on the beach on Bay Avenue, and tried to hide. He was spotted by officers who had set up a perimeter, Hartman said. The unidentified man then ran back onto Bay Avenue, where he was taken into custody. The incident is still under investigation and charges were not immediately available.
