The Grinch was stopped just in time for Christmas.
The green guy of Dr. Seuss fame was spotted trying to steal a Christmas tree while carrying a large sack of decorations and accompanied by a brown dog on a leash, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced Christmas Eve.
The arrest was a team effort by Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office detectives and Pleasantville police.
"A cooperative effort by law enforcement resulted in the Grinch’s arrest and residents in Atlantic County can now enjoy the Christmas holiday," Tyner said.
Last week, law enforcement received reports of an unidentified individual stealing gifts and Christmas decorations across the county.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pleasantville Police Department identified the suspect as "The Grinch."
Video was released of the arrest, along with a mug shot and picture of him in a cell.
No word on how the residents of Whoville are taking it, or if the Grinch's heart will soon grow once he gets a whiff of the Christmas spirit.
