The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fatal police shooting.
The shooting happened at about 4 p.m. on Fremont Avenue in Bridgeton, Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
Police were in pursuit when at least one officer fired his gun in the direction of the suspect, according to a preliminary investigation.
The black male's name has not been released pending positive identification, Webb-McRae said.

The investigation is following attorney general guidelines on investigating police use of force, she said. The New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Unit is assisting with the investigation.
