Three killed in Atlantic City in five days

Three people have been killed and two wounded in Atlantic City within five days. The spike in violence comes as talks continue that the state may cut public safety positions in the city. Aki Dunbar, 41, was gunned down Wednesday night on N. South Carolina Avenue, in a shooting that wounded his friend Herbert Jacobs. Three days later, a man and woman were viciously attacked
with what sources have said was a machete inside a North Harrisburg Avenue home. The 54-year-old woman, a beloved and longtime Tropicana employee, died at the scene. A 54-year-old Pennsylvania man was wounded. A day later, an Atlantic City man was fatally shot in the area of New Jersey and Oriental avenues. His name has not yet been released. Jose Lopez, of Ventnor, has been arrested in the knife attack. There have not yet been arrests in the shootings. "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims involved in these three incidents," Police Chief Henry White told BreakingAC. "Thankfully, a suspect has been arrested and charged in the stabbing death that occurred Satuday night. We will continue to assist the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office with the investigations into the two other homicides, and hope for a similar outcome." The Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit investigates all homicides in the county, with the assistance of detective's from the department of the municipality in which it happened.
