Atlantic City High School's ROTC cadets are ready for the national stage.
The group made its debut at the national competition last year, the first time in school history. Now, as one of only three schools in the nine-state region — and the only one in the state — they're ready for a win.
"We're more prepared," said Reachney Khiev, 18, of Atlantic City.
Company Commander Alberto Rosario guarantees a win, "100 percent."
"I couldn't be more proud," said retired Lt. Commander Jeff Dennison, who is in his first year leading the group.
His friend — and fellow ROTC leader — Chief Warrant Officer Christopher Brown brought him onboard.
"They're the shining stars of Atlantic City, in my opinion," Dennison said.

The group will compete in Pensacola, Fla., April 7 and 8.
A GoFundMe Page is hoping to help.
He didn't join ROTC willingly, admits the 18-year-old Atlantic City resident. It was his mother's idea. But, "Mom's always right," he now acknowledges.
Khiev joined ROTC in her freshman year, after seeing students in uniform her first day. It inspired her to want to join the Navy.
Joseph Fuller, 18, of Brigantine, also is hoping to go from an ROTC uniform to one in military service. The former Bridgeton resident is working to become a Marine.
Rosario is wants a career in aeronautic. He's already been accepted to one of his top two choices, Rider University, and is waiting to hear on his top choice.
Meanwhile, he's proud of what ROTC has given him.
"We talk about the Atlantic City culture here," he said of kids who come to school late or don't care. "We've surpassed that."
