Unsafe biking led to criminal charges for an Atlantic City man on Friday.
Officers Daniel Arra and Christian Ivanov were led on a chase after they tried to stop a bicyclist riding down the middle of the street in dark clothing with no lights or reflectors at about 11:40 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
When they tried to stop Nazeer Sapp on the 1100 block of Drexel Avenue, he fled across North Carolina Avenue, according to the report.
The officers caught up to him in the 1000 block of Mediterranean Avenue, and placed him in custody, Fair said.
They then found a loaded handgun in his waistband, according to the police report.
Sapp, 23, was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, obstruction, resisting arrest, and multiple traffic summonses.
He was released on a summons with a future court date.
