A man was fatally shot in Atlantic City on Tuesday night.
Firefighters who responded to the scene were also shot at while trying to aid the victim, Fire Chief Scott Evans said.
"They were putting pressure bandages on the victim when they heard and felt gunfire over their heads," he said. "Two of the firemen took cover behind the car."
Police were called to the 1800 block of Lincoln Avenue after 9 p.m., for a man shot.
Anthony McCrae, of Atlantic City, was pronounced dead at the scene, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
Police and firefighters who responded heard gunshots, several sources on scene tell BreakingAC.
"Engine 3 was treating a gunshot victim (when) shots were fired in their direction and they had to take cover," Evans said. "All the firemen are OK. It was one of the scariest situations they have ever been in."
