A Pleasantville man has been charged in a shooting that wounded an Atlantic City man last week.
John Gilmore, 34, was already in police custody when a warrant was issued for him Friday in the shooting of Alexander Botchway.
Botchway was found shot in the hand in the beach block of Ocean Avenue just after 11 p.m. June 4. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where he was treated and released.
An investigation by the city's Violent Crimes Unit led to aggravated assault and weapons charges against Gilmore.
But before a search warrant was issued, Gilmore was arrested by Officers Eugene Laielli and Thomas McCabe for selling cocaine, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers Jefferson Rivera and Avette Harper saw the drug transaction at about 6:30 p.m. June 9, in the 1400 block of Memorial Avenue.
They arrested Sandy Otero, 48, of Atlantic City, who was found in possession of cocaine, Fair said. He was released on a summons.
