Girl injured after running into road, hitting A.C. mayor's car

A 7-year-old girl was injured when she ran into the road in Atlantic City and struck the mayor's car, police said. Officers responded to Route 30 in front of the HighGate Apartments at about 3:20 p.m. for the report of an accident involving Mayor Don Guardian, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Guardian was heading west in his city-issued vehicle when the girl ran into the road and struck the rear passenger door of the car, according to the report. The girl was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus with minor injuries. Guardian was not injured in the crash. The mayor was not issued a summons as the accident was determined to be unavoidable, Fair said. Officer Eric Wessler investigated. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call police at 609-347-5766.
